The production of the Tiger goes back to a joint venture between Aerospatiale and MBB in the late 70‘s and built in 1984 as the PAH-2 for the Bundeswehr, as well as HAP / HAC for the French army.

Because of the high cost, the project was discontinued in 1986, but resumed a year later and began construction of five prototypes.
