The twin turbine based Bell 212 is a development of the Bell 205. Thanks to the second turbine, the Bell 212 is able to fly at high temperatures and at high altitudes.
The revolutionary thing about this new helicopter is the „Twin-Pac“ power plant, made up of two coupled power turbines driving a common gearbox. Upon failure of a turbine, the other turbine is at full load.
